Methanol Steam Reforming over La1-xSrxCeO3-? Catalysts for Hydrogen Production: Optimization of Operating Parameters

In this study, a series of A-site strontium-doped La1-xSrxCeO3-? (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) perovskite catalysts were synthesized via the ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) sol-gel method for hydrogen production by methanol steam reforming. The fresh and reduced are characterized scanning X-ray (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Results showed that La0.6Sr0.4CeO3-? exhibited best performance among catalysts. operating parameters optimized to study catalytic La0.6Sr0.4CeO3-?, including temperature, water–methanol ratio (W/M) liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV). However, excessive strontium content led decrease in amount per unit time, high W/M promoted reverse water–gas shift reaction (RWGS), which resulted CO selectivity an increase CO2 selectivity. addition, optimal as follows: reforming temperature 700 °C; 3:1; LHSV 20 h?1. Furthermore, conversion rate can reach approximately 82%, 3.26 × 10?3 mol/g(cat)/min under optimum conditions. exhibits (85%), is promising catalyst MSR application.
